Anyone who has traveled with camera equipment has undoubtedly had to deal with damage to their gear. Regardless of the environment you are taking your gear into, there will always be a wide array of elements that can and will wreak havoc on your stuff.

With that said, there are a ton of different modes of transporting your stuff, ranging from small bags big enough for a point and shoot, to a rolling hard shell case that will hold an hd video camera, extra lenses, an SLR with extra lenses, batteries, etc. Basically the method of transporting your camera equipment truly depends on two things; where you're going and what you need to bring.

With regard to bringing more rather than less, I have found Pelican cases to be the ultimate storage and transport option for camera equipment. The variety of styles Pelican offers leaves you with countless options as well as configurations for toting your photo equipment.

The first case I would recommend would be the Pelican 1200 Case. This waterproof, hard shell camera case is perfect for an SLR sized camera with enough room left for a couple extra batteries and even an extra lens, if placed carefully inside. The Pelican 1200 case can be purchased with or without Pelican's custom fit foam interior.

The camera case I really like is the Pelican 1510 Carry On Case. This is basically the most useful camera case I've found to date. It was built to be the maximum dimensions allowed as carry on luggage on most commercial airliners, so no longer do you have to check your valuable equipment and pray that the baggage handlers refrain from throwing your gear around with reckless abandon. With ample storage room (1650 cubic inches), the 1510 Carry-On Case is available with the same foam interior as the 1200; however it has an available padded divider system that is much better suited for organizing lenses, batteries, etc. Also available is a handy lid organizer for storing other smaller sized items you may want to bring along. The 1510 also comes equipped with a tow handle and heavy-duty wheels for easy transport.

The final case I would recommend is the Pelican 1600 Case. This is for when you just can't leave anything behind. The 1600 has all the same great features and options as the 1510, but with a larger interior (2780 cubic inches) that will hold everything you will need to get the job done.

With the multitude of cases available from Pelican, any aspiring photographer or professional can find storage or transport solutions for their gear.
